TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 3 Review.

Hey oldies, welcome to my review and an incite of the new TT isle of man series -Ride on the Edge 3 – you may be familiar or not to that the TT Isle of Man is a hugely popular racing festival that puts superbikes with riders that push and drive to their limits around the streets of the Isle of Man and get to the edge.

So, let’s have a look into the game itself the graphics of this game i feel are on the basic side of things and the game in world feels a bit of the empty side, what I mean by that nothing really jumps out of the screen and stands out as a graphical masterpiece. I just don’t really see anything that makes you think this is really an Xbox next generation masterpiece.

The game controls itself ultimately feels sluggish and very clunky and is not reactive as taking corners feel a massive challenge and most of the time you’ll under brake, the only saving grace is the option on having a racing line that is standard in most riding and driving simulations. This does help you develop and hon your riding style and somehow helps to learn the street you’re riding depending on how many times you repeat the track your doing.

Most of the bikes I’ve tested in the game they just feel weighty and very difficult to control, but when you get to top end speeds and blasting down the straight, I have to admit it really is a lot of fun in till you hit a bump or a corner you should have slowed down for.

The campaign you have the option to choose and run in one of two classes which your options are either a superbike or super sport bike this can be confusing as I wasn’t sure what races to complete and what races should I be qualifying for; it did take me some time to understand what I was doing as most of the tracks are to be qualified before a race with a time trial.

Starting a race was a struggle for me as you need to hold in the left bumper to lock in your clutch before revving the back end of your bike, then if by magic you’ll see your front end do that magical wheelie that you shouldn’t be doing, sadly no anti wheelie system was kicking in.

Sadly, there are not any options to create your own team rider and was very disappointed to not be able to change the bikes look or livery like you can change on most riding/driving games, just boggles my mind that that wasn’t added.

Having played on various riding games I’d just think they have missed a few things that could have made this game something a bit more to talk about, I’m not going to say the game isn’t worth playing it just could have been so much more, the biggest issue I’d experienced while reviewing the game was the poor controls on the Xbox pad. I’d just think this should have been tested more before release or its just me being old and my reflexes aren’t what they were. and a second issue why is the rewind feature not available this really is a key part of most riding and driving experiences as you’ll ultimately be hitting the floor, trust me some corners are challenging.

Looking into the sound of the game feel the surrounding bikes to seem to be lacking some of the ferocious roars, I am hoping that the developers investigate updating this or dropping some extra sound samples in the next DLC’s, come on guys it just seems bland.

Overall, the Isle of Man TT: Ride on the Edge 3 can be brutal but with persistence it properly be brilliant, once you’ve mastered the challenging riding sensitivity, I still feel that some things could have been added and implemented into the game but overall, this is worth a play and maybe to some racers this is the challenge they need.
