The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvation – Review.

So we are now into the week and we’ve got another treat for you as we have another game to review “The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvation” which is a genre I’ve never really played before as this style of game really wouldn’t appeal to me… I’d best get some old people pants on as I get scared at watching a fly…

The Bridge Curse is based on a real world Taiwanese legend, ascending the 13 steps on the bridge at Tung Hu University at midnight, reveals a 14th step and upon turning around, you will be faced with a horrific ghostly moment where your hairs actually stand up, do you run and hide or die.

Once you’ve escaped the first part which took me nearly a hour and about 3 broken controllers later, I finally made it to the actual university in which I started asking question listening to rumours and sightings through talking to other students.

The main start of the story is that a group of kids at the university decide to create a film of the recent sightings using movie props when all of a sudden shit goes horrifically wrong (Adult nappies at the ready).

The idea of the game, I have to say, is far more appealing than the actually execution of what was delivered, I’d spend a few hours wandering around the campus or the university in search of the next milestone or key moments that will progress the story, or me in that matter, one moment I thought was very confusing when i finally found a classroom and had to place five documents on a white board a certain way and in a particular order.

As this previous task was so tedious I’m sadly not proud of having to YouTube the order they had to be placed on the white board as I was told they have been printed out and these items where nothing near the printer, eventually the items were found dotted around the room, I’m not sure why one of them was superglued to a jar or something and placed in a cupboard but anyways lets move on….

You occasionally get thrown in to danger as you’ll need to run and hide in order to stay alive, I will say this game has a lot of repetition and most of the time I had no idea what direction or pathway I should of been heading.

Every so often your planted into a scary moment where your hairs stand up on end, whether it be a ghost of some form of apparition but this will only be for me very short lived, I mean normally I run out of most rooms due to being a wuss.

This game when it first started really had me but after a while it lost its scare factor maybe this was because I’d spent most of my time being lost and trying to follow the story or maybe I just lost interest in the game.

The thing I’d really think that would of made this game for me a bit more fun would of been some sort of guidance or some pathways indicator or something to follow, as from the start this was clearly missing and again I’d have to repeat the same part over and over due to the unknowing and which direction I was to run or hide and I just didn’t find the surroundings that memorable.

You can find The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvation on the Xbox store for about £25 and if I’m honest there could be a lot worse ways of spending your money, I really not a big fan of these particular style of games but yet I still think this will appeal to others.

So my final thoughts on the game it’ll take you about 5 hours to complete the main story and I still feel this game will appeal to most horror film fanatics with its intriguing story, even if it lacks a little direction at times.
