It’s the weekend again, and it’s another game to review. Strayed light is a story told in an abstract journey in a way and directed by guesswork to try and evolve and transcend.
The game is quite easily controlled and is beautifully integrated onto the xbox system and plays brilliantly without any problems.
You start off as a creature of light or element, born into the world where a storm is taking place when suddenly you start to evolve and separate into two parts, one evil and the other good.
After wandering around and getting my bearings and understanding the controls of your split personality, you start fighting the game mechanics and various mobs, learning how you parry and charge up your abilities and how to strike back.
Your main quest is to search different realms, looking to put them back together again. Each realm opens your story and the tale behind your existence, and no boss is the same as the last one you encountered, which is a nice trait.
The colours and the fluidity of the game is never boring and while your engrossed into the game play every boss you encounter feels slightly more challenging and with unique patterns which you somehow you have to learn to stay alive learning how the mobs move using various patterns while they attack you, I found this hard being old and have no coordination.
The realms you visit are visually breathtakingly and colourful and somehow feel like they’re alive, like you’re in a dream or a living environment. I feel like that last comment makes sense in my head, but belive me it just beautiful to look at, I found myself just in ore of looking at the backdrops and the visual landscapes you play through. I lost a lot of time with my jaw on the floor, just looking at everything.
The game hasn’t got a correct path to follow or is there any visible guide to your next destination its just we’ll get to the next place when we get there, I really like this attitude and approach the game is offering, just sit back and we’ll let the rest take place when it happens.
Strayed lights is a nice relaxing experience with a colourful well rounded addictive adventure with a slide of combat and parrys.
The longevity of strayed lights isn’t massive but you can put in a few hours into the game play, however the lack of the story isn’t brilliant as you find many hours trying to figure which way is which.
The colour matching your energy’s is challenging at the start, but once you have nailed down the strategy and the patterns of the combat system, it becomes second nature to you even if your as old as me you’ll be ok trust me.
So would I recommend this game to another gamer, yeah I think the way the game plays and the way you get captivated into the world and gameplay this is a game that you should at least play through once and for the price tag of £20.99 its worth every penny.
