Murderous Muses Review.

Well its that time again when we look into and review a game for the old folk here at XboxOldies, today we’re going to have a look into the FMV called murderous muses.

Solve a sinister murder by spending three reality-shifting nights in a haunted art gallery. An infinitely re-playable murder mystery blending deduction, exploration, puzzles, collectibles and FMV.

Murderous Muses is an entertaining full motion video. The environment, exploration, and worldbuilding look fascinating, but the overall gameplay let’s say isn’t my cup of tea. The story involves you a security guard which gives you the access to the haunted art museum and to piece together and investigate who killed the artist who painted all the paintings.

I cant remember the last FMV game I’ve played, I think the last one I can only just remember was the one that was a ground breaking game on the Sega mega CD thingy back in the 90’s called Night Trap.

The storyline is quite cool, you have three days to understand the mystery and solve with limited information. you start of by stumbling over a message that’s been left for you asking you to open all the crates and hang grey’s painting for Sasha.

Once you’ve opened all the crates and hung all the paintings you’ll need to turn on your monitor and start that shift that you didn’t wanna work, sounds a bit like the real world.

I’ve got got to say the game is engaging and you’ll need to explore the museum to solve all the many puzzles that are presented to you. Once you’ve solved a puzzle you’ll be given a key to open another part of the gallery, the more keys the more secrets you’ll unlock.

The placing of each painting is very challenging as limited information is given to you from the start other than its a museum and its a mystery to figure out where everything goes. The minute you place a picture in the correct spot a white button appears ”hurrah” which then you can press like the rest of the artwork in the gallery, they really should of put some pointers at the start as things are cryptic without any help provided.

So the truth is out there but who will be the killer you will need to decipher one of the six suspects. Professor Catherine Myers, Lilith Rendell, Xavier Haan, Dominique Serrant, Otto Pipistrelle or Sunday Finch. you’ll need to ask the questions to the six suspects, to unlock police interviews, and then finally deduce who’s the murderous muse.

The sound and the graphic are ok and don’t really stand out anymore than any other FMV games you may of played, the longevity of the game should really only last no more than 10 to 15 hours but that’s depending on how many times you play it.

Murderous Muses is scheduled to be released on April 12 for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S and is currently priced at £19.99
