It’s been a busy 24 hours or so and while I’ve been curled up in bed with the flu, the gaming world has been going at the speed of light with Xbox finally announcing “Developer Direct”, an online showcase available to view on Xbox channels (TwitchYouTube) and Bethesda channels (TwitchYouTube) at 12pm PT/3pm ET/8pm GMT on the 25th January.

The official Xbox Twitter account doesn’t give much away except for the promise of “News and Gameplay from some highly-anticipated games”,
So, we delved a little deeper, and here’s what we can expect for each main title features..

Directly after the show, there’ll be a special show for Elder Scrolls Online, we know this will be at 8:45pm GMT, so with this, we can conclude that the main “XboxDD” show will last around 45 minutes.
the main games featured, will be:

Redfall:
The minds behind Dishonored and Prey, Arkane Austin, will showcase several minutes of gameplay from their upcoming FPS.
The Developer_Direct will reveal single and multiplayer gameplay, showing more of how you and your friends will take down bloodthirsty Vampires on the picturesque island of Redfall, Massachusetts.
Fans can expect to learn more about combat, customization, bosses, the open world, and more.

Minecraft Legends:
Mojang Studios will showcase an insider’s look into the PvP multiplayer experience in Minecraft Legends – the upcoming action-strategy game from the makers of Minecraft.
Developed in partnership with Blackbird Interactive and launching this spring, don’t miss exclusive gameplay footage at the Developer_Direct

Forza Motorsport:
The team at Turn 10 Studios have been hard at work, bringing fans the next generation of Forza Motorsport, built from the ground up to take advantage of Xbox Series X|S.
Forza Motorsport is back, and we can’t wait to share more gameplay and exciting new details.

The Elder Scrolls Online:
Studio Director Matt Firor will unveil 2023’s major Chapter update, including the latest regions of Tamriel to become playable in ESO, as well as a major new feature coming in the game’s biggest update this year. The Developer_Direct will be immediately followed by the full, standalone ESO Chapter Reveal Event, hosted by Zenimax Online Studios, which will provide all the in-depth details ESO players will be keen to know.

The following Tweet by Tom Warren of the Verge gives us more information (originally spotted by @Klobrille)

The above tweet goes on to confirm….

“First time shared release dates for great Xbox titles coming out over the next few months – including The Elder Scrolls Online, Forza Motorsport, Minecraft Legends and Redfall.

Xbox Germany

A few points of interest are…
The timeline of “The next few months”,
and usage of the word “Including” which makes us feel like we may get a few more release dates thrown in for good measure.

I don’t personally expect to see Forza, Minecraft Legends and Redfall to all release within “a few months”, but it definitely sounds like we’ll have a solid release date for each of them.

my prediction is…

14th March: Minecraft Legends
4th April: Forza Motorsport
2nd May: Redfall

Xbox have told us

To dedicate the proper amount of time for a deep dive into Bethesda Game Studios’ Starfield, a standalone show is in the works.

Xbox

So, I hope we will see a shorter teaser (literally seconds) giving a date for the Starfield Developer Direct.
While I’d love them to announce a release date (23rd May), I’d be just as happy if they announce a new Developer Direct (for March) and at least point towards trying to keep up a bi-monthly showcase which could easily become the norm for big game showcases and release date announcements.

Gamepass is another area we could see something from, maybe the long awaited Friends and Family plan, but there’s also rumours flying around about Goldeneye joining the service.
The early January Gamepass showcase only outlined Monster Hunter Rise and the Persona games (all due in the next week) which is admitably pretty weak with only 3 games compared to often seeing 5-10 and sometimes even more added, maybe there’s going to be quite a list for February, and Xbox Developer Direct is a perfect place to tell us about it,
so it’s pretty safe to assume If Goldeneye is due to appear soon, it’s February at the earliest, making the Developer Direct showcase a perfect opportunity to show what’s coming soon to Gamepass.
Goldeneye, and Hot Wheels would make a great start, and a quick blast of games coming wouldn’t take more than a few minutes.

One thing we know for certain is, we’ll know for sure in less than two weeks.
